Kyriaki Gkoudina is an international (Greece) Master’s student in Composition, at Michigan State University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies in Aristotle’s University of Thessaloniki (2014) with specialization in Film Music, while studying Harmony (3 years) and Counterpoint of the 16th Century and Baroque (2 years) in a private conservatory. She earned a fellowship to attend Michigan State University and is currently studying composition with D. Biedenbender and L. Goeringer. Apart from contemporary music, she has composed music for plays, as well as for films and documentaries. Finally, she has sound designed interactive performances and films. She is currently pursuing her DMA in Music Composition at Michigan State University.
Kendra Wheeler, from Chicago, Illinois, has recently received her Master of Music degree in saxophone performance under Preston Duncan from the University of Minnesota where she also received her Bachelor of Music Education degree under Eugene Rousseau. She has been an active advocate for music education, as well as, for the inclusion, visibility, and engagement of the underrepresented within the composition, performance, and academic disciplines within classical music. Wheeler has been the recipient of numerous scholarships, grants, and awards including prizes from PanAmerican International Saxophone Competition, North International Music Competition, Thursday Musical, Vandoren Emerging Artist, and Downbeat Magazine. As of Fall 2018, Wheeler is working towards her Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) degree and masters in Music Theory at Michigan State University under the study of Joseph Lulloff.
